For over 25 years the La Crete Library has excelled in its Senior Services. Our staff person visits all three senior facilities (Altenheim, Heimstead Lodge, La Crete Continuing Care) once weekly bringing individually selected materials that our patrons might enjoy. Their visit may at times include reading to some of the patrons. They also serve any shut-ins living within the hamlet by providing them with a variety of reading material as well as craft/special interest magazines etc.The Library is open to receiving referrals from other agencies who have patrons that would like this service.
Our Annual Senior's Tea is held in June celebrating our seniors in conjunction with Alberta's Senior's Week which is slated the first week in June. The evening consists of singing by local individuals or groups (quite often children which the seniors enjoy immensely), a presentation which has in the past included individuals or groups that have gone on mission trips, and light refreshments.
The library is currently partnering with Parent Link to bring pre-school programs to the library every Friday morning. These programs have included Mystery Reader sessions in which clues are given ahead of time as to who the week's mystery reader will be. In January 2018 the Rhymes That Bind program began. Check with the library for current children's programming and hours.
Rhymes That Bind

Rhymes That Bind is an oral literacy program that parents and their children ages 0-3 attend together. Rhymes can be used in a number of different situations. After the 7 week program, parents will know a number of fun rhymes and receive a copy of each rhyme.
This program is in partnership with La Crete Parent Link.
